Friday, April 20th: Roller derby mecca

It was our final day with Fyfe as she was flying out that afternoon to head back to Australia. We went to our chosen breakfast spot, Sip, which was also where we finally remembered which coffee OMG told us to order while we're here.

It was then off to the airport via Cavenders (?) to see if Fyfe could find some cowboy boots and hat before she headed off. Lord knows where she would have packed them, her bags were maxed out.

Fyfe also gave us her US cell phone so that we could be contacted over the next few weeks. This came in very handy as the drive into Austin was filled with texting our Austin friends. As much as I curse this evil tablet, ye olde Samsung throwaway flip phone is so much worse. But it serves its purpose so whatever.

We managed to find our way to the AirBnB place that would be our home for the next 5 nights, scaring the local resident when we pulled up. Annie is super lovely and gave us some hot tips on where to hang out and dine. We spent the next hour or so catching up with our online lives before heading out for some japanese food and Wholefoods shopping. We then hustled back to meet up with some of the Texas Rollergirls for welcome drinks and the first of no doubt many food van meals at a local honkytonk bar called Whitehorse. We also saw live music. Maim tried to learn how to two-step again but success escaped her. We'll blame the IPA.

It was then early nights all round in preparation foranbig day tomorrow.
