Saturday, April 28th: Gotham

Today we started at Radio City Music Hall. Little did we know that we were there on Day 3 of the NFL Draft so there were hoards of people there including a lot of men in uniform (Hello sailor!).

We signed up for the Radio City Music Hall tour and were taken around by a very enthusiastic tour guide. So, have you seen that episode of Seinfeld where Kramer moves to L.A. To be an actor and there's an elderly Hollywood starlet who lives in his apartment building? That's who our tour guide reminded me of. There was another tour guide who reminded me of Eileen Brennan. I wish she'd been our tour guide.

During the tour, we were introduced to a Rockette named Rachel. To this day, we'll never be certain whether she really was/is a Rockette or some actress locked in a small room all day, let out every 5 minutes to deliver her soliloquy on what it's like to be a Rockette, then have photos taken. We did not have photos taken with her. Sorry Flat Pop.

Next stop: Rockerfeller Plaza and the Top of the Rock followed by the Terracotta Soldiers from China.

We then headed back to Brooklyn for some dinner followed by the Gotham Girls Roller Derby bout between the Manhattan Mayhem and Bronx Gridlock. For those of you who aren't derby nerds, Gotham Girls are the current WFTDA Champions. This is a big deal. Being at their bout was a big deal. Also, we got to catch up briefly with Bonnie Thunders and OMG WTF as well as see Bonnie manage her team (Bronx Gridlock) for the first time. The bout was a nail-biter and in the end, Manhattan Mayhem were victorious.

The three of us headed back to Williamsburg for a couple of quiet ales before calling it a night. Being a tourist is exhausting.
