We last left our intrepid travellers, Maim and Jude, in rainy San Francisco. After a few days of acclimitisation, site seeing, hill climbin, belly laughing and re-living some of the storylines from GTA: San Andreas, it was time to head to Albuquerque to join the All Stars.
With our companions, Skate Bush and Slam Punk, we made our way to the airport where we encountered our first hurdle: United Airlines check-in. All of us managed to check-in and pay for our bags but none of us knew to wait around for someone to take our bags. Whoops. Good thing we're a group of overly cautious travellers well versed in unexpected airport hassles.
Next stop, delayed flights. By this stage, we were pretty excited about seeing the team. Having spent the great part of the past three months in each others' back pockets and minds, a week apart was an awfully long time. On a positive note, we got to spend more time with Punk before she left for Portland.
Finally, our plane arrived. A 52-seater, or thereabouts. Maim was not happy. As it turns out, Maim doesn't really like flying. To be fair, she doesn't like taking off, turbulence or landing. She wasn't going to like much about this flight, nevermind that it smelled like someone had done big poos before we got on. Nevertheless, we made it to Albuquerque unscathed.
Cab ride to the Hotel Blue was rather interesting with the driver warning us about the night time dangers of ABQ. The team was training with Duke City so we checked in and headed out for dinner. The team ended up finding us after we finished dinner and so we joined them in a burger run (watching, not eating again) before heading back to the hotel for some shut eye.
Next: A day in the desert.
