Hello Albuquerque!
It was very exciting to be back together with the team. Maim took off to Santa Fe for the day while I stuck around town for some housekeeping and to catch up with the others.
Pac, Chuck and I went to the local diner for breakfast before visiting the local laundromat. Local. While we waited for our washing, I introduced them to the wonderful world of Walgreens as well as my irrational fear of leaving clothes in the washing machine once the cycle has completed.
After a further half hour of watching clothes dry and turning down laundromat burritos, it was time to eat again. we found fresh salads at The Flying Something. I want to say bat but I'm pretty sure it isn't.
We had been warned about the altitude in Albuquerque and to stay hydrated but something about ABQ brought oute pea-sized bladder in us. It's pretty hard to stray from known toilet locations when you need to pee as soon as you leave the bathroom. But I digress...
We dropped Chuckers off at the hotel and went for an exploratory walk to look at adobe-style houses. I learned that Pac loves tulips and is prone to sunburn upon sunburn.
It was now time to head to our first bout for the trip against the Duke City Munecas Muertas. This was also our first ever outdoor bout set against the backdrop of a New Mexico sunset. Brilliant. The desert dryness, wind and altitude took a bit of a toll on our players however we came out on top, taking out the win 122 to 80.
We then ended the evening with dinner at The Flying ? with some of the Duke folks before it was time to pack up our belongings and get ready for our journey to Tucson.
