With only one full day off in Tucson, it was a scramble to try to fit everything in that everyone wanted to do so for the first time in what seemed like a really long time, we parted company for the day.
Minxy and Duncan picked us up in their flashy red convertible and took myself, Spots and DeFight to the PIMA Air and Space Museum. Finally, alone time. Alone nerdilicious time. I used a space flight simulation machine and docked the Gemini something or other at the International Space Station. When I say dock, I mean crash. I saw a 'Moon Rock' - still not convinced about the whole moon landing thing. The 390th Memorial Museum was moving. Like Clare Danesing moving. And I also got up close and personal with a whole lot of airplanes and helicoptors.
We then went on the AMARG Tour of the Boneyard. Totally amazing. I've wanted to go to the Boneyard since forever and can now tick that one off. Only my camera battery died 5 minutes into the tour and I only have crappy soft focus shots on my Blackberry. Oh well. Photos from inside a bus do not do that place any justice.
It was time to go back to the hotel and pack for our departure. It was also time for the birth of Super Absorbent (refer earlier post). While it was nice to have some space, I missed the team while they were off on their adventures and and no matter what they say, they missed me too. I insist.
Eventually, everyone made their way to Brooklyn's Beers and Burgers for our last group meal and $2 cocktails.
Grim and Bec left for Melbourne earlier in the day while Mel headed on to Phoenix. It was the beginning of the end of our wonderful journey.
Monday highlights: Congratulatory e-mail from Bonnie Thunders (yup, I am that person); the Boneyard; Super Absorbent and Super Observant; stories from the afterparty; guilt-free beers with my mates; night timestories with floppy 3D Pop.
